What is Motability?
Motability allows Disability Living Allowance receivers to access adapted Vauxhall and Chevrolet Vehicles. Getting a new car via the Motability Scheme is easier and more affordable than ever.
Through Motability, you simply turn your mobility allowance in to the car of your choice.
One of the options in the Scheme is the ‘Contract Hire’ scheme which includes:
- A new car every three years
- Free tyres
- Insurance
- Road tax
- Servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Breakdown cover
- Window or windscreen replacement
Am I Eligible?
To benefit from the Motability scheme you must be in the receipt of one of the following:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC) of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
If you would like help to check that you meet the scheme eligibility requirements, you should contact one of the following agencies:

Tom Curran is our Motability Specialist at our Stockton Dealership and has worked with the Vauxhall brand for over 12 years, and with the Chevrolet brand since it opened in Stockton. Tom has a wealth of knowledge about motability, the rules, documentation needed and offers available. Tom will always strive to find you the perfect car and present you with the benefits of each models. Toms experience with Vauxhall has helped many customers to find the dream car and he will always go that extra mile to make sure his customers are happy. He prides himself on keeping in touch with his customers regularly to make sure everything is going ok with their cars, a small touch which is greatly appreciated by his customers.

Andy has only been with Sherwoods for a few short years, however in this time Andy has undertaken his Motability qualifications to enable him to look after Motability customers at our Northallerton dealership. This has earned him great praise as his friendly disposition puts customers at ease! If you live in Northallerton you may have seen Andy around, he seems to know most of the town, so you can be sure you will receive the excellent customer service that you deserve.

Our Motability Specialist, Nichola Thompson has no end of positive news and feedback from her valued customers. In a recent article in 'Lifestyle' (The magazine for motability scheme customers) Nichola was praised for her contribution to the Motability Scheme. Having worked at Sherwoods for over 10 years, Nichola is responsible for arranging Motability Events and promoting the values behind the scheme in order to provide a high level of service to all of her customers.
In the article Nichola said, "No two days are the same. Every customer has different requirements and priorities. Meeting new people and helping them find the right car is very rewarding."
Mr Willis collected his first motability car from Sherwoods in July. Mr Willis chose a Chevrolet Tacuma 1.6sx in pear black and was overjoyed with the service he received from Nichola.
Ms Stainsby said: "Thank you so much for all the care and attention we received during the transaction of getting our motability car."
